Some lessons to be learnt
It is quite astonishing at the things you see and learn while you're away in a different place. So, I have just returned from a little break in Lille, a nice little french city in the north (nord de france).
One of the things that slipped to the back of my mind before I got there, was the greetings. It isn't an odd thing there for a man to kiss a man in public. It does actually seem very polite.
A level french is not how actual proper French people speak, when you get into the technicalities of a french menu, I struggled. - teacher make note now.
I saw some of the scariest and also well dressed tramps that I have ever seen in my life. One even asked for some bread that I was carying. Some were missing shoes, others didn't look that poor, some were minus a few teeth and felt it was a requirement to leave their mouth suspended open.
Security is very tight, walked into a supermarket, just after going over the old "Bonjour" greeting, a security guard stapled my clothes bag together and carefully watched us around the store. I also got searched before going on Eurostar, yet they don't search people on normal trains. My mobile had set the old detectors off.
They are quite civilised people, well dressed, not overweight and not drunk. They have a completely different culture to the UK regarding booze, beer is on the menu right under the orange juice and the water.
C'est tout.

Holiday
From Wednesday I'm on holiday in France, which should be really nice and hopefully I'll get a chance to practice some of my french, as a student there is nothing more frustrating than being spoken to in english, when you have a fairly good understanding of it. I'll try and get some nice pictures for you all too. Jonny has given me a few tips..such as remembering some rule and something about foregrounds.
British People - Is it me or is every shop now selling Harribo by the tills?
I shall be back by Friday for more fun and games.
